"I got nuttin but love for ya!"
When you're trying to work full time, run a business, read another chapter or finish another paper for school and keep the home fires burning, it's easy to forget why you struggle to keep all the balls in the air. But this morning I was reminded why...LOVE.
A friend forwarded me a copy of a little know documentary called "Be Inspired-The Life of Heavy D" . For those of you who didn't grow up in urban settings in the 80s you may not know him,, Dwight Arrington Myers, but for many of us who did, he was an icon. He was a quick speaking wordsmith who could get his message across without being negative or cursing or tearing anyone else down, He was the softer face of rap., the kind you could play in front of your parents. He was the well mannered, well spoken guy mother's loved. mother's weren't the only ones that loved him. Forget that business about the LL in LL Cool J standing for "Ladies Love " everyone loved the dance machine that was the "Overweight Lover". It was his demeanor and love that allowed him to segue from music into television. But more importantly, it reminded me when you stay positive, when you love what you do, and you spend your time encouraging others, giving of yourself and working towards something greater without thinking you are something greater, you leave a legacy of joy and love.
So on this day, the day when love is in the air and we all seem to be absorbed in the romantic ideals of love, I'd like to remind you of the other forms of love; for family, devotion to friends, and passion for what you do. If you don't have any of that, it's never to late to find it, to act upon it and to share it. So my wish for you on Valentine's Day is to find, make and share love in all it's forms; and know like Heavy D, "I got nuttin but love for ya."
